St. Bernard Seafood & Farmers’ Market Reopens Saturday, February 25th; Vendor Applications Now Available
The St. Bernard Seafood & Farmers' Market is gearing up for the 2012 season at the Aycock Barn, located at 409 Aycock Street in Arabi, Louisiana. The market will open on Saturday, February 25th and continue each week from 8am until 1pm through mid-December. Last year was the inaugural season for the market, which is one of the latest additions to St. Bernard Parish's slate of events and attractions.

St. Bernard Parish Government holds Inauguration of Parish President and Councilmembers
David E. Peralta, Parish President and Councilmembers were officially sworn in on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 12:00 O'clock Noon.
The Inauguration took place in the Council Chambers which was filled with public officials, family members, friends and employees.
President Peralta gave his inaugural speech and reiterated his promise to give the residents a transparent government with a fully functional ethics board.
He introduced his Cabinet members and thanked them for dedicating themselves to serving the people of St. Bernard Parish.

Parish President’s Report
Council Meeting, January 24, 2012, 7:00 P.M.

Dear Council Members, Ladies and Gentlemen:

I am happy to report my Administration has been working hard these past two weeks. We have made great strides to better serve the residents of St. Bernard Parish. I am very proud of the employees for their dedication to this government and for their hard work during this transition.

St. Bernard Parish Government will be conducting its first GIS flyover since the 1990’s. By the end of this summer, our GIS system will be updated with aerial views of the entire parish for the first time since Hurricane Katrina. This is a monumental project and will provide us with historical information for years to come.

On another note, my staff and I have discovered that overpayment on recovery projects through 2011 has placed St. Bernard Parish in a predicament where we could possibly have to pay back up to $14 million. We are currently working closely with GOHSEP and our new recovery staff in order to identify funds that may be owed. Additionally, we are placing a number of new financial mechanisms in place so that we can more closely monitor recovery funds going forward. As I promised complete transparency, I will keep the Council fully aware of this situation.
