Parish President’s Report
I am happy to report my Administration has been working hard these past two weeks. We have made great strides to better serve the residents of St. Bernard Parish. I am very proud of the employees for their dedication to this government and for their hard work during this transition. St. Bernard Parish Government will be conducting its first GIS flyover since the 1990’s. By the end of this summer, our GIS system will be updated with aerial views of the entire parish for the first time since Hurricane Katrina. This is a monumental project and will provide us with historical information for years to come. On another note, my staff and I have discovered that overpayment on recovery projects through 2011 has placed St. Bernard Parish in a predicament where we could possibly have to pay back up to $14 million. We are currently working closely with GOHSEP and our new recovery staff in order to identify funds that may be owed. Additionally, we are placing a number of new financial mechanisms in place so that we can more closely monitor recovery funds going forward. As I promised complete transparency, I will keep the Council fully aware of this situation.
